What Is We-Blocker?
We-Blocker is a FREE software package that when installed in any Windows 95/98/ME/2000/NT4.0 personal computer, will block offensive material such as pornography, violence, gambling, drugs and alcohol, hate speech, weaponry and adult subjects, without limiting the educational potential of the Internet.

What Does We-Blocker Block?
You decide! We-Blocker, has organized offensive websites into seven categories of material to help you as a parent make decisions about what to block. You also have the ability to block or un-block sites, either by category or by words and phrases to personalize your Internet viewing.  Return to the top.

How Does We-Blocker Know What To Block?
We-Blocker matches bad words on a web page against a list that is installed with We-Blocker to see if any of the words match.  If they do, that site is blocked from viewing.

We-Blocker also checks the url of the web site the user is attempting to visit.  If the url is listed under one of our seven categories, the site will be blocked from loading.

The seven categories are:

1. Pornography
   Any site that contains either graphic or text depicting, describing or otherwise endorsing explicit or implicit sexual acts, sex crimes, deviant sexual behavior, rape, sexual products or services, sexually provocative attire, and/or gratuitous total or partial nudity.
3. Violence
   Any site portraying or promoting injury, death or torture of human beings or animals, gratuitous blood and gore, cult or ritual violence, suicide, and /or malicious property destruction. In addition, any site containing instructions on how to carry out such violent acts, and illegal information regarding weapons will be placed in this category.
4. Drugs and Alcohol
   Any site encouraging or glamorizing the use of alcohol, tobacco, or illicit drugs, instructions for manufacturing illegal substances, references to drug paraphernalia, "drug culture", and promoting/selling alcohol and/or tobacco to minors.
5. Gambling
   Any site that promotes or practices gambling involving the use of actual money, illegal or otherwise, in the form of on-line casinos, lotteries, or sports betting.
6. Hate Speech
   Any site that contains defamatory speech or activity directed towards a particular group based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation or social status, including sites by individuals and militant extremist groups.
7. Adult Subjects
   Any site containing profane and vulgar language, expletives, revealing attire, adult situations, criminal activity, and any other subject generally considered inappropriate for children.
8. Weaponry
   Any site containing legal information regarding the purchase, use, design and manufacturing of firearms, ammunition, military equipment, explosive devices and martial arts or manually operated weapons. How Quickly Will Sites I Block On My PC Be Blocked?

How Quickly Will Sites Submitted Be Blocked For All Users?
Sites submitted to We-Blocker for global blocking via site blocking must go through a review process to ensure that the site submitted contains material that fits our criteria. It usually takes two business days for your efforts to be rewarded, and for the site that you submitted to be blocked for all users should it fall within the seven categories.  Return to the top.

What About News Sites That Appear Each Day?
The We-Blocker software will periodically check to make sure your software is current. If your We-Blocker is out of date, We-Blocker will remind you to download the updated files from our website.   Return to the top.

How Can I Get A Site Removed From Being Blocked?
Send us a removal request with the url of the web site and explaining why you feel the site is needlessly blocked. We'll review your request and the site in question. If it has been mistakenly listed, it will be removed. This process usually requires two to three business days.  Return to the top.

Why Should I Register We-Blocker?
Registering We-Blocker has many advantages, and can be done by going to the registration page. If you register We-Blocker, you can:

• Create a password that will prevent children or anyone but you from disabling or uninstalling We-Blocker.
• Contribute to the We-Blocker community by submitting websites you find offensive through.
• Eliminate the nag screen that reminds you register before your home page appears.

Does We-Blocker Work With Aol & Other Service Providers?
We-Blocker currently supports AOL 6.0 and Compuserve 6.0. We-Blocker does not currently support MSN or earlier versions of AOL and Compuserve.  Return to the top.

How Difficult Is We-Blocker To Install?

Does It Interfere With Web Searches & Sending E-Mail?
No. We-Blocker is designed specifically to not detract from the power to use the Internet in the way that you normally do. Using We-Blocker with search engines will bring up a full range of results, but access to blocked web sites will, of course, be restricted.  Return to the top.

Can Anyone But Me Uninstall We-Blocker?
Not without knowing your master password (the password you used when you installed We-Blocker). Prevent anyone from learning your password by writing it down, and keeping it in a safe place where no one else will find it.  Return to the top.

How Protected Will My Child Be Using We-Blocker?
We-Blocker provides very good protection from potentially objectionable Internet content. However, We-Blocker would like to remind you that no software can substitute for an attentive parent.
